Quite a few people have had questions about the process or other things in the past, and there are common questions or misconceptions that tend to go around online. This post is here to answer some of that. Note that a lot of questions, regarding how to establish communication or what to do after you summon, were essentially covered in the last blog post. As a result that sort of stuff isn’t mentioned here. If you want that you can find it Here.
Without further Adieu, let’s begin.
Are Spirit Lovers/Love Spirits/succubi/whatever entity I want to summon agents of Satan and are after my soul?
No. Most usually, a spirit lover is after a longer term companionship. There are a hundred reasons why they might want this, and they might want it for no good reason at all. It’s not that unlike the reasons why you’d imagine a friend would look for a relationship. There are some cases where a spirit that makes contact will want something short term, especially if that was your main goal in summoning. Sometimes they will come and go based on that, and other times they’ll switch gears and try to convert that into something long term anyway. It is very rare that you will attract a negative entity doing the ritual, unless you make a major mistake in intent. It does, at times, happen anyway, but even in those cases, they aren’t agents of Satan or after your soul. They usually just want to use you as a source of energy, like Parasites.
Entities can’t steal your soul. They can bring you down to their level by leading you to corrupt acts. They can try to make you upset or angry or scared or what have you to feed off your energy that way. On rare occasion they can force an out of body experience. But your soul is you, they can’t forcefully take that, and can’t trick you into selling it, despite what many people seem to think. Negative sorts of entities will typically approach you if you’re putting out a lot of negativity or they consider you an easy target for temptation for whatever reason. Some entities do pick on such people, which is where a lot of the negative stories with spirit lovers come from. However, given even the most short term spirit lover would be after sexual energy specifically, them torturing you would be counterproductive, as it would make you less likely to seek them out later for repeat sessions, which could only benefit them.
Doesn’t the lover’s light/letter method, as presented on this blog, cause you to create a tulpa rather than summon a spirit lover?
This is a question a lot of people who are unfamiliar with ritualism and only vaguely familiar with tulpas tend to come up with. They consider the blast of emotion close enough to what people say about tulpa creation, and having not studied ritualism don’t understand why rituals are designed the way they are. In my literalism and ritualism post I discuss the idea behind rituals briefly. You’ll find the ideas presented there in almost all ritualism; from Golden Dawn Ritualism (which is already a wide conglomeration of ideas) to something further back, to the modern, often corporate ritualism you sometimes see today (if you want to know what I mean, check out the spirituality section in your local non-occult bookstore).
A tulpa is a mental creation. A tulpa is easily discerned as separate from an entity because it exists within the user entirely. Furthermore the tulpa-making process is more exacting and long term than a one time summoning ritual. There is no need to send energy outward when creating a tulpa for obvious reasons, so the letter method provided here would not be appropriate. You would also not be able to banish a tulpa by conventional methods because it lives within you and would take a while to remove entirely from your psyche, whereas any entity summoned with the methods here will be banish-able by a ritual or process such as the Lesser Banishing ritual of the Pentagram if performed with enough will. Though these rituals do have an internal cleansing component, it will not be a simple affair to entirely detach a tulpa from your psyche, and therefore a single well performed LBRP will be insufficient if it is a tulpa.
As a side note, I’ll make a post about banishing later on. For now there is a document I’ve written about it within the discord server, which is linked at the end of this blog.
Should I summon a spirit lover/other entity if I am a practicing Christian?
No. Despite them not being evil by default, within Christianity it is sinful to summon a succubus or perform most magic at all. If this bothers you, you should not summon one. However, if you don’t care about sinning then you being a Christian or going to church won’t cause any problems or hindrances.
How do I know my summoning was a success if nothing very obvious immediately happened?
It’s very difficult for someone who hasn’t practiced much to be able to perceive more minor results. Most of the time you will have to play it by ear and give her time and opportunities to make herself known. If you’re experienced at entity interaction and evocation you will be able to immediately discern a presence, but let’s face it, if you’re here that probably isn’t where you’re at yet.
My advice would be to make time to meditate where you can and give it a month. This is a fairly ample amount of time for her to do something, and meditation is a fine time for her to interact. She may use dreams as well; keep the kinds of dreams you usually have in mind and see if the ones you think are her clearly stand out as ‘special’. It’s best if you keep a clear mind and don’t think about the results that often, so that you don’t create false positives psychologically.
How do I know this isn’t just me going crazy?
The partner to the above question. It is important to have at least reasonable certainty you’re not just becoming a lunatic, and if you do have mental issues to understand what sensations those particular issues have caused historically.
If you’re prone to hallucinating, then ‘seeing’ your spirit lover isn’t good proof. If you’ve had issues with phantom noises in your life, or phantom touches, chills or hot flashes, or so on, these would be areas you’d need to be more skeptical of when receiving an interaction. However, you almost certainly will not magically develop mental illness by doing the letter method. Being excited can lead to some false positives, but if you suddenly start experiencing touches here and there (the most common thing) when you haven’t had that happen in the past, then it’s good evidence, especially if the summoning hasn’t been on your mind.
As an example, In my case I had a clean bill of mental health going in. No phantom touches, no phantom sounds, certainly no hallucinations. The first things I experienced were touch sensations, and the thing that finally made me flip from being an atheist was a visual manifestation in the living room. All the lights were on and I was fully awake. I know that because of my mental health situation it was highly unlikely that that was a hallucination, nor that the other things were as they only began after the summoning.
It is recommended you at least know your medical history before performing the letter method or any ritual at all. Some practitioners also recommend therapy in general as a good way to help you deal with more extreme experiences and analyze what has happened. Just don’t let them medicate you unnecessarily (if you are already on meds however, do not stop using them. If idiots tell you to stop using mental health medication to develop psychic powers, ignore them).
Does the letter method/lover’s light have to result in a spirit lover, and if it doesn’t how can I tell what the entity is?
Honestly the idea of lumping entities into a ‘race’ is a really weird field in general. It makes sense for humans because we can easily see what humans look like and are disposed to act like, so the whites and the blacks and so on stand out. The main differentiation between entities in most descriptions up to now is how they act and what they do, and as a result it can be really messy because different entities usually act quite a bit differently even if you consider them the same race, like individuals in the human race. Any amount of seeing you do is down to your own mental interpretation of what they look like via visualization (except for an extremely clear visual manifestation which is very rare) which isn’t good for sorting either especially if yours changes that appearance all the time depending on what they want to communicate. It can be said that entities are manifestations of certain forces given personality; this is in technicality what a human is, and this also leaves room for different races of entities depending on their energetic inclination. Sorting like that is about the closest one can get to proper races in my honest opinion, though even that results in a spectrum more than a white and black set of groups.
With that aside, the short answer is that no, the letter method and lover’s light can be retooled to summon, well, more or less anything. If the intent you specified attracts another kind of entity then that entity is better for whatever intention you put out. For this reason it doesn’t really matter what it is you attracted, but it can be helpful to know that to understand why your ‘succubus’ isn’t this way or that way or they feel differently than you’d expect.
The main way to tell that it’s not or is a spirit lover, or to tell what it is, is being experienced enough to be able to compare it to what you know about spirit lovers. This is made more difficult due to the fact that most entities will be happy to go along with whatever race you call them as they try to live up to your expectations. Establishing a principle of honesty early on (once you can converse at least semi regularly) and then asking them is one other way, and probably the best way if you don’t plan on doing much in the way of other magical practice. At the very least you’ll then know what they consider themselves by your standards.
Incidentally if getting a, let’s say, succubus specifically rather than something else was a big part of your intention, then you can be reasonably sure that it’s a succubus (or at least close to your idea of one, if succubi don’t truly exist). And yes, this means you can easily use a derivative of the letter method to summon other kinds of entities specifically. You’d want to change out the symbolism besides the letter depending on what you’re after, but it’s a simple skeleton you can use for pretty much any summoning ritual.
